More than 20 years in business

Specialised Packaging Services Pty Ltd began in Sydney back in 1986. After leaving Visy Board the previous year, founder and director Nick Leywood formed the Specialised Packaging Group with the vision of a wholistic packaging supply company. This was realised to some degree, with strong growth in the three key areas: presentation packaging, industrial packaging, and plastic pallets.

Attention to detail and desire to create beautiful packaging saw Specialised Packaging begin to focus heavily on presentation packaging. Success followed with long term clients such as Estee Lauder, Nokia and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia . Fulfillment quickly became part of the service to deliver total client satisfaction. The small but dynamic packaging broker began to manufacture and moved from office space in Wooloomooloo in the Sydney CBD to Allambie in 1992. Focusing primarily on a Sydney client base, Melbourne also became an important location due to local car industry requiring expertise in the design of heavy duty corrugated packaging.

A wealth of experience

As fulfillment work grew to 20+ staff in the factory, Specialised Packaging Group continued to be a strong seller of plastic pallets. Director Nick Leywood provided pallet design expertise to Australian and Korean pallet manufacturers while also designing bulk materials handling packaging for the Australian food industry.

Plastic packaging became a part of the business with the purchase of Branson ultra-sonic sealing equipment Similarly, packaing and fulfillment for companies like Cat Media led the company into overwrapping and the Allambie premises became too small for a packaging company now well into manufacture.

The move to Brookvale, Sydney NSW occurred in 2002, and provided room for diecutting and high-speed gluing equipment. Specialised Packaging was then able to manufacture cardboard packaging and printed boxes for their clients. The client base had grown strongly including not only Sydney NSW, but also Brisbane, and costal Queensland, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Here and now

In 2005, the opportunity for exponential growth in corrugated packaging presented itself, and the company jumped at it. This involved the move of manufacturing operations from the Northern Beaches of Sydney to Wagga Wagga rural NSW, but the focus was installing a range of new box making machinery from the likes of Gopfert and Bahmuller to produce large corrugated cardboard packaging.

Specialised Packaging continues to service existing clients' needs for presentation packaging, and it a volume seller and manufacturer of plastic pallets. However now the focus is on heavy duty corrugated cardboard packaging. The range of new machinery, detailed below was carefully chosen to allow a flexible and efficient service in providing top quality cardboard packaging.
